Foodie Penpals March 2013

My foodie Penpal package from the lovely Louise – thank you! All the tea is now gone (and lovely it was too – much more subtle than Twinings’ version), and the chocolate eggs have also been opened – perhaps unsurprisingly…

Foodie Penpals return!: January 2013

Image

A new year, a new foodie penpal package!

January’s package is from the lovely Alena 🙂 This package has an eastern European twist:

  • Polish fudge and boiled sweets
  • Eastern European bbq powder
  • Chai tea
  • Smoked garlic
  • Vanilla essence
  • Bombay mix
  • tinned lobster (!)

The fudge is rapidly disappearing and I have designs on the spice mix for this weekend 🙂 Thanks Alena!

Foodie Penpal Package October 2012

Image

This month’s  Foodie Penpal package comes from the lovely Bene, in London 🙂

This was a bit of a whopper of a package! A blooming great one too – packed with all kinds of healthy and unhealthy goodies! Raspberry and Yoghurt Cereal, Porridge Oats, Crispbreads, Caramel Wafers, Seed biscuits, fruity cereal toppers, and yoghurt coated fruit bits. Very very yummy! Thanks Bene!

Foodie Penpals #4: Goodies Galore!

Image

This month’s Foodie Penpal package comes from the lovely Vanessa at www.agreenmess.com and ohmygosh what a parcel! I am a very lucky little Yuppiebaker!

Image

Yoghurt and Orange Rice Cakes: Can anyone say ‘YUM’!? These sound awesome, and definitely qualify as healthy snackage. I’ll need to see if I can find a supplier up here.

Image

Energy Bars: Well, the nights might be drawing in, but my sofa-bound contemplations of evening jogging during the winter have been given a considerable boost by the prospect of justifying these yummy snacks 🙂

Image

Garbanzo/Chickpeas – tomato, garlic and herb: A decent sized portion and only 88cal per bag! Given that this bag is lower in calories than just 8 almonds, I think I’m onto a winner.

Image

Strawberries Galore: Thornton’s Strawberry Crush, Strawberry and White Chocolate Log – Nessy’s favourite, apparently 🙂 I look forward to trying it!

Image

Nuts and Seeds: Pumpkin 9 Bar, Chocolate with Macademia nuts, and Pecan Pie raw food bar (which I totally love!)

So thank you again, Nessy, for a wonderful package – I’m very grateful!

Foodie Penpals #3: M.I.A

Image

Rather saddened to have to report that my 3rd Foodie Penpal package was a no-show 😦 Boo.

But what irks me slightly is the lack of communication from my penpal – either to say she’s dispatched it, or not and why. There may well be good reasons, but I can’t help the feeling of childish disappointment.

Oh well. Never mind. I’m glad to report that Anna and Robert safely recieved my package, and it sounds like they enjoyed it 🙂

Foodie Penpals 2: The Spicy Edition

Another month, another lovely Foodie Penpal package! This month’s package comes from the lovely Susie Nunn at http://duckslovebread-suze.blogspot.co.uk/

This month I was lucky enough to receive:

  1. Montezuma’s Sea Salt and Lime Chocolate – which disappeared at speed!
  2. Spicy Cajun Style Beans – I am addicted to Wasabi peas, so these were pretty much a perfect choice; slightly spicy and packed full of flavour. These have been forming my morning snacks so far this week 🙂
  3. Dried mango – wonderful stuff! Sweet, chewy and good for you 🙂
  4. Smoked Birds Eye Chillis – the package says these things pack at 8/10 on the heat scale, and they really weren’t kidding! I put half a chilli into an aubergine dish over the weekend both my OH and I (whimps that we are) were finding it really quite hot, but the smokey flavours from the chilli worked so well with the aubergine.

So, thanks Susie! Awesome selection 🙂
